With quirky live music bars, cool speakeasy style joints and big ticket venues, the music scene is among the most exhilarating in the country.

For visitors to South Florida, check out the comprehensive calendar of live music festivals. They take place year round.and offer something for every taste.

Here’s what happening this March:

Montreux Jazz Festival 28 February – 2 March

Set to take place in The Hangar at Regatta Harbour in Coconut Grove, this festival is back for its second edition and will bring together popular artists such as Jon Batiste, Janelle Monae, WILLOW, Chaka Khana and many more for three days of memorable performances.

 

Flamenco Festival Miami 5-9 March

Known as Miami’s hottest flamenco event of the year, the 16th edition will bring together Spain’s finest artists of contemporary flamenco for three unforgettable performances that will electrify the Magic City.

 

Jazz In The Gardens  8-9 March

Bringing to Miami some of the biggest names in hip-hop, R&B and jazz for the 18th edition at the iconic Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. This year’s event mixes world-renowned mainstream artists with local Miami acts. The lineup includes seven-time Grammy winner Toni Braxton and five-time Grammy winner Lauryn Hill.

 

Calle Ocho Festival 9 March

Celebrating Greater Miami and Miami Beach’s vibrant Latin and Caribbean cultures, the annual marquee event brings together a million attendees year after year to stroll through 15 street blocks in the heart of Little Havana filled with international food, entertainment, music, art and dance. This event is the largest street festival in Miami and the largest Hispanic festival in the USA.

 

Little Jam Fest 9 March

This whole day event at the Miami Beach Convention Center brings together families, community organisations and local businesses to create an open environment for all ages. The second edition will include live music entertainment, interactive activities for kids and meet-and-greets with Disney characters and Miami sports mascots.

 

Miami Music Week 25-30 March

Miami Music Week will feature more than 200 events across Miami and Miami Beach, including parties at venues, hotels and nightclubs. Hundreds of thousands of people from around the world will make their way to the city to enjoy a vast range of music in-person including dance, house, techno, trance, EDM, drum ‘n’ bass, and dubstep.

 

Ultra Music Festival 28-30 March    

The world’s largest electronic music festival returns to Bayfront Park in Downtown Miami. This year’s star-studded lineup includes Afrojack, Alesso, Armin van Buuren, Carl Cox, Dom Dolla, John Summit, Tiësto and Zedd, making it a must-attend experience for electronic music lovers.

 

Miami’s local music venues:

Along with Miami’s incredible music festivals taking place this month, enjoy live music at Miami’s local venues and feel the ‘perswaysion’ from salsa to merengue to kompa.

Local venues include: Oasis Wynwood (local performers), 1-800-Lucky (jazz, pop, latin and hip hop), Ball & Chain (salsa, jazz and mambo music), Red Rooster (live jazz), Cafe La Trova (live Cuban ‘La Trova style music’), Mango’s Tropical Cafe (reggae) and more.
