A reminder: spring break is not only for students
Don’t forget there’s also spring break for families. And Nancy Hahn Bono is reminding travel professionals that the Orlando area in a recent survey ranked No. 1. “We asked families where they wanted to go if they were going to take a spring break with their families. Orlando was ranked No. 1, followed by Miami and New York City,” said Ms Hahn Bono, vice president, travel industry marketing, Orlando/Orange County Convention and Visitors Bureau. Orlando is generally ranked the world’s No. 1 travel destination for families, but this year the cvb is also promoting it as a family spring break destination. But her message to travel agents and others is also that Orlando has a variety of things to do in addition to its famous theme parks. “We are suggesting they (travel professionals) combine the theme parks with other activities in the area such as an air boat ride, or a day in some of our beautiful gardens, or have a themed day with nature,” she said. She points out that Orlando in recent years has added luxury hotels and a healthy spa component, which has broadened the area’s appeal to more upscale visitors. The cvb’s primary target, however, remains families. And that’s not expected to change, Ms Hahn Bono confirmed.
