A room with a view-Sydney Tower opens for breakfast events

Event planners can now book Sydney’s top venue – literally – with Sydney Tower’s new adrenalin attraction, Sydney Skywalk, open for breakfast group bookings. The attraction will team with Sydney Tower Restaurants’ Sky Lounge to provide the ultimate high flyers’ meeting package.

Featuring panoramic 360-degree outdoor views from Sydney’s tallest building, Skywalk is a high altitude outdoor adventure located 260 metres above Sydney’s streets, offering an exhilarating outlook certain to inspire any gathering.

Opened in October 2005, Skywalk tests thrillseekers’ willpower on the rooftop of the tower’s golden turret. The Skywalk experience sees Skywalkers venture out onto two glass-floored viewing platforms suspended over the Tower’s edge, with one platform moving up and down beneath participants’ feet before extending out over city streets.

In conjunction with a morning group Skywalk booking, event organisers can now also book the Tower’s Sky Lounge for exclusive use from 8.30am to 10am making it the perfect location for a private breakfast, team-bonding exercise or pre-work gathering.

Sydney Skywalk Marketing Manager Thomas Davey said the inspiration to partner with Sydney Tower Restaurants for breakfast meetings had come after a recent early morning media Skywalk event.

“Everyone was just blown away by the early morning views over Sydney,” Mr Davey said. “The function created a great vibe for the day and we realised that Sydney Skywalk with Sky Lounge would make a fantastic setting for private morning events.”

Mr Davey said Skywalk events could be arranged for up to 80 guests, with the Sky Lounge offering excellent catering and audio equipment for product launches, meetings and gatherings

“If you’re looking for an event that will leave everyone on a high, the combination of an early morning Skywalk with a breakfast gathering in the Sky Lounge is unbeatable,” Mr Davey said.

Rodger Powell, who heads the new tourism-savvy restaurant and development company Australian International Hospitality Group which owns Sydney Tower Restaurants, said he was equally delighted with the marriage.

“Sydney Skywalk’s morning packages are an ideal opportunity to showcase Sky Lounge, particularly in time for coming summer tourism activity,” Mr Powell said. “There is a synergy that should return keen interest from both tourism and the meetings, incentive and conference markets.”

Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, Sydney Tower is recognised as one of Sydney’s icon attractions.  At 305 metres, the Tower is more than twice the height of the Harbour Bridge.

Since 2004, Sydney Tower’s tourism attractions – including its Observation Deck, Skywalk and virtual theatre experience OzTrek – have been managed by the Sydney Attractions Group.
