AAA predicts record holiday travel
A record number of Americans will travel this holiday season.
The AAA is forecasting over 122 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles, with the vast majority driving to their destination.
It predicts eight million will take domestic and a further five million will go by bus, train or take a cruise vacation.
The average price per gallon of gas is now below $3.
“With so many people traveling, you just have to be prepared for the possibility of congested roadways, especially on those major arteries on the afternoon and evenings leading up to the holiday,” Daniel Armbruster, senior public affairs specialist at AAA said.
“Certainly, people want to get away. People want to see family and friends,” Armbruster added. “The holidays are certainly no exception to that.”
Winter weather could hinder travel o the roads and in the air.
There are weather alerts covering around 11 million people in the Northeast and New England.
Also, storms in California have already caused flight delays and this may continue.
