Abu Dhabi promotes itself as summer destination
Abu Dhabi plans to promote itself as a summer destination next year while improving on the 10% growth in hotel guests it saw this year.
The destination attracts families, culture seekers and those on short breaks due to the beach, shopping malls, water worlds and museums on offer.
This year it saw 109,000 hotel guests from the UK – its second largest market after India – which was up 10% on 2012.
The UK country manager for Abu Dhabi, Nabeel Al Zarouni, puts this down to a closer relationship with the trade.
He said: "We’ve done more marketing with the trade and we need to continue that and increase numbers further from between 10-20%."
He added that the focus for next year was to attract more summer bookings and maintain what it has achieved in the key booking months.
Al Zarouni said with many attractions being indoors, hotels having cooling systems in their pools and the abundance of water parks, the summer would be a good time to visit.
The Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority is planning a London roadshow for top selling agents.
The country has also teamed up with Kuoni to sell packages around the Volvo Ocean Race Fleet that it will host in December 2014.
A destination app is now available on all there is to see and do in Abu Dhabi as part of their ‘overall digital strategy’.
