Advantage unveils its own ‘green’ scheme

Wednesday, 01 Oct, 2007 0

Advantage has launched a scheme to promote an environmental friendly approach from its staff, members, suppliers and customers.

Running alongside ABTA’s Reduce My Foot Print campaign, The Advantage Environmental Policy will see Advantage encourage and incentivise a ‘green’ approach from its stakeholders.

It will take a full audit of all members’ and suppliers’ current approaches to environmental policy.

A programme of incentives will be put in place to encourage best practice amongst members, and staff will be incentivised to support and promote to customers green travel products and services.

The consortium will also encourage a bench-marking scheme through a members Awards programme.

Advantage central office will target to distribute 90% of communications with staff, members and suppliers through electronic means.

All Advantage conference attendees will have their travel carbon footprint offset by contributions from central office.

Team heads will be made responsible for a specific element of the environmental policy to ensure widespread adherence.

Ken McLeod, Advantage’s director corporate, said: “Advantage regards its role in sustainable tourism as a major responsibility for our organisation, our members and our business partners.”

Advantage is also backing the Reduce My Footprint scheme, a carbon emissions reduction programme for the travel and tourism industry and for individual travellers themselves.
