“Greening the Hospitality Industry” Conference announced for 2009

The Green Meeting Industry Council announced their 2009 “Greening the Hospitality Industry” Conference scheduled for February 24-26, 2009 in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania at the Gold LEED certified David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

This conference will provide timely, professional education and invaluable networking opportunities through presentations, workshops, and a tradeshow.  Key industry leaders will discuss green meeting practices for meeting and event planners, hotel properties, convention and conference venues, and suppliers to the meeting and event industry.  Participants will have an opportunity to share practices in roundtable discussion groups.  The latest environmentally responsible meeting products and services will be showcased. 

The Green Meeting Industry Council is dedicated to improving meeting management practices by promoting environmentally responsible strategies through the collaborative efforts of meeting industry stakeholders.  The Green Meeting Industry Council is committed to balancing economic, environmental, and community objectives as they relate to the meeting industry.

The organization was created to respond to the need to galvanize the hospitality industry stakeholders in this evolving arena and to provide education and resources for meeting planners to make their events and conferences environmentally responsible. The Hospitality Industry is responsible for over 1 million meetings & events annually and over 12,000 tradeshows annually in North America alone.
