Aer Lingus Queen of the Skies

Monday, 21 Apr, 2009 0

Aer Lingus celebrated the launch of a further three of its new European routes from Gatwick on 20th April as more than 500 passengers took off to Munich, Vienna and Nice.

Livening up an otherwise typical Monday morning, airport onlookers and Aer Lingus passengers were treated to an unexpected visit by look-a-like royalty, the Queen, who boarded the first flight to Munich, receiving a royal welcome from German media as she landed this morning.

Aer Lingus Corporate Affairs Director, Enda Corneille said: “It was great seeing peoples’ reactions at Gatwick this morning. Lots of people were unsure if she was the real deal and we’ve captured their reactions on camera. Watching the Queen doing a spot of duty free shopping is not something you see everyday. We thought it would be a fun treat for our passengers and employees at Gatwick Airport – it definitely did the trick!

“We have sold over 250,000 seats since launching ticket sales in December last year and we’re continuing to grow. Our sales reflect the superior offering that sets us apart from our rivals. Following the success of our £9.99 one-way including taxes and charges offer, we have plenty of more tricks up our sleeve when it comes to offering travellers with competitive deals. Aer Lingus is now looking bigger, bolder and better – so watch this space!”

Flights to Malaga and Knock launched on 6th April – the final launch is taking place on 26th April as flights to Faro and Zurich complete the launch of its eight new routes.
