Aeroflot slashes international fares
Russia’s flagship carrier Aeroflot has cut euro-denominated fares by 10% on all international flights from Russia.
The airline said the move was part of its strategy to increase the accessibility of air travel for people across Russia, but also to offset the increase in the cost of international airfares as a result of the higher cost of foreign currencies.
The new tariffs apply to all airlines that operate under Aeroflot management to destinations outside the country. They apply to one way and return fares, but only where travel originates in Russia.
All of Aeroflot’s international tariffs are included except for Promo fares, a number of flights to CIS destinations and routes operated by Aeroflot’s subsidiary Aurora. Reductions on these routes were announced in December.
Also excluded are connecting flights with transfers at international airports and flights operated by partner airlines.
In December, Aeroflot announced a reduction of 10% in ruble-denominated fares for domestic flights until the end of the winter season.
