Agency chain Toucan Travel has collapsed
Family-owned travel agency chain Toucan Travel, launched in 1982 in the Home Counties, has ceased trading.
The company, which also traded under the names Peregrine Travel, Winchester Travel Service, Hart Travel and Magical Tickets, had seven shops across Hampshire and Berkshire.
Its retail branches were in Chineham, Fleet, Hook, Odiham, Tadley, Thatcham and Winchester.
The company was run by MD Terry Thornhill and it was a member of Advantage Travel Partnership.
ABTA says the majority of its sales were tour operators’ packages, but it also sold a ‘small number’ of attraction tickets and accommodation-only sale, which are protected by ABTA.
ABTA is warning that it could take up to six months to process refunds due to the volume of claims.
Customers who paid by debit or credit card are being directed to claim from their card issuer instead.
