Agents invited to scene of shark attack
To try to encourage agents to continue selling Red Sea resorts following a recent fatal shark attack on a tourist in Sharm el Sheikh, Red Sea Holidays is launching a series of fam trips to the destination starting in January.
Created as a result of polling agents after the recent shark incidents the fam trips will cover Sharm and the unaffected resorts of Hurghada and Dahab staying in four and five star resort hotels.
Sales director Jason Hilton has been liaising with agents this week and found that whilst the majority of agents were happy to continue to sell the Red Sea a few were cautious. Hilton believes this caution has arisen due to conflicting information in the consumer press which has not been clear on which resorts have been affected and whether beaches were closed or open.
"We understand that agents may have concerns so are launching this series of fam trips to show agents that the Red Sea is very much open for business," said Hilton.
"The trips will focus on the quality infrastructure, value and extensive tourism offering the Red Sea has, showing agents that culture, excursions and land based activities are all also part of the mix. This will help them inform and advise their customers accurately and with confidence."
The first week long fam trip will take place on January 23 departing from Gatwick. Agents wishing to register interest should email [email protected] or call 0845 072 2477.
