Agents name their favourite global travel companies

TUI Travel has been named as the world’s leading tour operator by the World Travel Awards, reclaiming the title from Kuoni which has been the winner for 13 of the past 18 years.

German holiday airline, Tui Fly, took the title of best charter carrier, beating Monarch and sister airline Thomson Flights, which were both nominated.

Intercontinental Hotels & Resorts has been named as the best hotel brand in the world, while Expedia has the best online travel agency website and Royal Caribbean is the top cruise line.

The World Travel Awards, voted for by agents worldwide and hailed as the "Oscars" of the travel industry, also named Abu Dhabi-based Etihad as the best airline, Singapore Changi as the top airport in the world and cruise.co.uk as the leading cruise travel agent.

Virgin Atlantic took two awards, for best business airline and best business class airport lounge.

World Travel Awards global media partners include the International New York Times, CNBC and Newsweek, which together has a montly readership of 1.7 million and a TV audience of 90 million.
