Air Astana makes additional cuts to international flight schedule
Air Astana has recently made further tweaks to its flight schedule in response to weak demand caused by the coronavirus outbreak.
It has already significantly cut flight frequencies from Almaty and Nur-Sultan to Seoul, and now the Nur-Sultan to Baku route has been suspended.
The Almaty to Baku route has been reduced from three flights weekly to one per week.
All flights to Beijing, Hong Kong and Urumqi have been temporarily shelved too.
"In order to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus, flights to China have been cancelled, whilst flights to Azerbaijan and South Korea have been reduced," said Islam Sekerbekov, Air Astana sales director.
"Cabin crew on international flights are provided with facemasks and additional attention is made to cleaning and disinfection of the aircraft cabin."
The airline says further adjustments and reductions are possible and advises customers to check their flight status, travel insurance policy for options over cancelling and deferring travel and keep abreast of governments’ travel advisories.
