Air Astana opens aviation tech centre
Kazakhstan flag carrier Air Astana celebrated its 16th anniversary with the official opening of a new aviation technical centre.
The centre is located at its hub at Astana Nursultan Nazarbayev international airport enabling the carrier to conduct all aircraft engineering and servicing up to heavy maintenance level.
"The added aerospace infrastructure contributes to the city’s standing as the leading air hub in Central Asia, whilst for Air Astana , it represents another significant step in expanding the carrier’s capabilities and boosting its international reputation for excellence," said Air Astana president and CEO, Peter Foster.
The Aviation Technical Centre comprises a single span hangar with 5,500 square metres of floor space, able to handle wide body aircraft alongside single aisle jets such as the Airbus A320neo family.
It also includes an auxiliary building, a spare parts warehouse and several workshops for repair and overhaul of aircraft parts.
