Air Astana reaches for the stars
KAZAKHSTAN – After a series of independent service delivery audits by the official World Airline Star Rating Programme, Skytrax Research, Air Astana has achieved an overall rating of 3-Stars, with its short haul Business Class being rated as 4-Star.
The full Star Rating determination examines more than 800 different areas of product and service delivery for each airline, where the ratings range from 1-Star (poor) to 5-Star (excellent).
There are only six airlines in the world that have a 5-Star rating – Asiana, Cathay Pacific, Kingfisher, Malaysian, Qatar and Singapore.
It is noted that most of the world’s best-known airlines are rated either 3 or 4-Stars.
Air Astana is one of only two airlines in Russia/CIS with a 3-Star rating. All other Russian & CIS carriers are rated as 1 or 2 Stars, or are unrated.
Peter Foster, president of Air Astana, said the management of Air Astana was proud of this achievement, “especially of all of the ground and cabin crew personnel, who received very good ratingsâ€.
He added, “Although we see this as a good achievement after less than seven years in business operating in a very challenging environment, we will continue to work hard to improve in order to achieve a 4-Star rating at the next Skytrax audit in 2010, which will place us amongst the very best airlines in the world.â€
