Air Canada conducting temperature screening of all passengers

Wednesday, 07 May, 2020 0

Air Canada will require all passengers to undergo temperature checks before being allowed to board flights.

It becomes the first North American airline to do so.

It is part of its CleanCare+ initiative which launches on May 15, and requires infrared thermometer checks for all flyers.

Passengers deemed to have a fever will be rebooked free of charge but may only travel when they are medically cleared.

Air Canada is also capping the number of available seats on each flight, meaning no two passengers will be seated directly next to each other.

The social distancing measures will be in effect until at least the end of June.

Passengers are still required to wear face coverings and must fill out a mandatory health questionnaire.

In an interview with CBS, Southwest Airlines CEO Gary Kelly urged the TSA to start conducting temperature scans as part of the screening process.
