Belize tourism performance over pre-Covid years
Belize has seen a consistent rise in tourism in recent years. The Belize Barrier Reef, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, draws snorkelers and divers from around the globe. Adventure and eco-tourism are increasingly popular. The island offers activities such as scuba diving, beach getaways, cave tubing, zip-lining. From a cultural point of view, the discovery of ancient Mayan ruins is a must-do. The country is also a top choice for honeymooners and luxury travelers.
In 2024, Belize recorded a historic high of 562,405 overnight visitors. It represents an increase of 21% compared to 2023 and nearly 12% above pre-pandemic levels in 2019. European travelers accounted for 10% of all international arrivals. Europe is Belize’s second-largest source market after the United States, which represented 69% of total visitors.
Entry into the country has recently been simplified with the launch of an e-arrival procedure. The new FREE online arrival immigration and customs declaration system, allows travelers to complete and submit their entry form before traveling to Belize. The official Immigration and Customs mobile app is the secure platform that tourists should use.
