Air Canada, Virgin Australia forge codeshare alliance

Air Canada has inked a codeshare partnership with Virgin Australia.
 
Following the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement with Virgin, Air Canada customers will be able to book onward travel from early 2017 on a single ticket to 10 cities in Australia and New Zealand on Virgin Australia-operated flights.
 
Air Canada’s operates daily flights to Sydney and Brisbane.
 
The Air Canada code will be placed on Virgin services to Adelaide, Canberra, Cairns, the Gold Coast, Melbourne and Perth and Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland, New Zealand.
 
Passengers can also book Virgin flights between Air Canada’s two arrival points Sydney and Brisbane.
 
"This agreement with Virgin Australia lays the ground work for a mutually beneficial commercial cooperation that will offer Air Canada customers more travel options and frequent flyer benefits within Australia and New Zealand," said Air Canada CEO Calin Rovinescu
 
"We look forward to introducing Air Canada codeshare service on Virgin Australia’s flights and welcoming Virgin Australia’s customers on our flights beginning in the near future."
 
Virgin Australia customers arriving at Los Angeles will be able to book through tickets to Air Canada destinations Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Montreal.
 
The carriers also plan to offer reciprocal frequent flyer redemption on each other’s flights in the near future.
