Air China is suspending its Beijing to London Gatwick Airport from October 27.
The service is not currently viable year round from both London Heathrow and Gatwick, airline insiders suggest.
Gatwick believes the airline will return for the summer season, commencing in spring 2014, with four weekly flights.
Better news for Gatwick is Vietnam Airlines will add a fifth summer service in April.
