Air France warns of growing disruption
Air France has warned that disruption will get worse as a week-long strike by its pilots enters its second day.
It said 60% of its flights were likely to be cancelled today as a result of the strike over the transfer of jobs by the airline to its low-cost subsidiary Transavia.
Passengers have been urged to change or postpone their flights. Those who have booked a ticket to travel before September 22 are being given the option of changing their tickets free of charge or cancelling with a full refund.
The strike will cost the airline €10 million to €15 million a day.
Lufthansa passengers are also facing disruption today. The pilots’ union Vereinigung is calling for a walk-out at Frankfurt airport, Germany’s busiest, for eight hours. It follows last week’s strike at Munich airport.
