Air India recruiting blemish-free crew
Air India has reportedly hired an entire sports stadium to recruit hundreds of new cabin crew – but anyone with acne or bad teeth is not welcome. The BBC News website reports that some 32,000 people applied for 400 jobs on offer, with 1,200 applicants being screened each day at the Delhi stadium. The website reports that the carrier, which is keen to create a more modern image for itself, is insisting on a high standard of personal appearance. The company’s personnel manager Meenakshi Dua reportedly said: “Looks matter in this line of work and therefore we are giving it a lot of importance. When we review a candidate, we look at the skin, teeth and height. There should be no scars, acne, or any major marks on the face. The candidate should have a pleasing personality, should be able to carry him or herself with confidence and be ready to serve others.” Candidates reportedly also face an on-camera personality test, a written examination and a formal interview.
