Air Malta opens new online portal
An enhanced internet booking engine has been created as part of a new portal developed by Air Malta.
The www.airmalta.com portal has been designed to offer a one-stop-shop to customers through a range of online booking and payment facilities that include Air Malta flights, hotels in Malta and car hire.
Users can now access various information pages including an interactive map of the Maltese islands, interactive diary of events in Malta, special offers section, Flypass membership accounts, a flight timetable and weather information. Excess luggage vouchers can be purchased online.
The portal uses I.P. recognition technology whereby users will be presented with relevant information according to their geographical location and tailor-made offers according to their needs.
Other projects in the pipeline include web check-in for inbound and outbound passengers and check-in via mobile phones.
The booking engine provides customers the ability to book Air Malta flights in five steps.
A calendar display shows users a one week before and a week after price scenario together with a range of colour coded fares available. This gives customers the opportunity to choose the best price option tailored for their requirements.
“No other airline operating into Malta gives this transparency option,” the airline claimed.
The booking engine is fully integrated with the airline’s Sabre GDS and is directly linked with two payment gateways to allow both local and foreign cash transactions.
The booking engine is also integrated with Holiday Malta’s booking engine so UK users can book local hotel accommodation.
