Air Pacific back in the black
Fiji’s Air Pacific plans to initiate a global search to find a Sydney-based replacement for Victor Sharan, the airline’s regional general manager Australia, New Zealand, and Asia, who will retire in August after more than 42 years with the company.
Air Pacific this week announced it is back in the black for the first time in three years, posting a $9 million profit, compared to its near $50-million loss two years ago.
Passenger numbers were up by 85,000 compared with 2010-11, despite no increase in fleet size.
The Fijian carrier is 46% owned by Qantas, which is considering its options and may sell its stake in the airline.
Air Pacific is rebranding under its former name, Fiji Airways, and will take delivery of new Airbus A330s from next June.
