Air traffic controllers threaten strike in June
Spanish air traffic controllers are threatening to disrupt flights for thousands of holidaymakers next month when they go out on strike over a four day period.
Members of the USCA union plan to walk out on June 8, 10, 12 and 14 for two hours each morning and two hours each afternoon.
The industrial action is being taken in support of 61 air traffic controllers who were fined one month’s salary and suspended for a month for a wild-cat strike held in 2010, which left thousands of holidaymakers stranded and forced the government to bring in the army to take over air traffic control.
The latest strikes will be held between 10:00 and 12 noon and 18:00 and 20:00 hours over the four days.
