AirAsia embroils Mavcom in legal fight against airport operator
AirAsia has now escalated its long term spat with Klia2 owner Malaysia Airports to involve the Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom).
AirAsia and AirAsia X jointly filed a judicial review calling out Mavcom for not acting in the dispute with Malaysia Airports.
The airlines say there is a statutory dispute procedure in place under the Mavcom Act and Mavcom has a duty to make a judgement in the dispute after mediation has failed.
The spat between AirAsia and Malaysia Airports shows no sign of ending and has got progressively worse, with claim and counter claims often aired in the media.
AirAsia has refused to pay increased passenger service charges for budget airport Klia2 which is says is substandard compared to the main airport hub KLIA which charges the same PSC rate.
The airport operator has demanded the airlines pay up and has also filed lawsuits claiming defamation for comments AirAsia executives have made in the press.
