AirAsia to launch Darwin-Bali flights
AirAsia plans to operate direct flights between Denpasar and Darwin from October.
The service will replace routes abandoned by the national flag carrier, Garuda Indonesia.
The service – subject to regulatory approval – will operate four times a week using Airbus A320 aircraft with a capacity of 180 passengers.
If approved, AirAsia services between Bali and Darwin will place the Indonesia airline in direct competition with Jetstar Australia, which also operates A320 equipment on this route.
Meanwhile, Strategic Airlines, which recently launched Perth-Bali flights, is seeking permission to fly between Port Hedland, in Australia’s North West, and Bali, starting in August.
