Airbnb buys Seattle trip planning firm Vamo
Vacation home sharing platform Airbnb has acquired trip planning company Vamo.
Financial details of the acquisition have not been disclosed but Seattle based startup Vamo will close down on October 1 and its team members will join Airbnb.
Vamo specializes in complex multi-city itineraries using big data.
"So much has changed since we started, but our vision to make travel better has always been the same. That’s why we’re so excited to join the team at Airbnb," said Vamo CEO Ari Steinberg.
"Complexities around international multi-city travel continue to exist, but we believe that in the long run we’ll be able to make even more significant improvements to the future of travel by joining Airbnb."
"Six people from Vamo will be joining Airbnb to work on improving the traveler experience. We are excited to have a team join us that is passionate about making the travel a better experience," an Airbnb spokesman said.
Vamo was founded in 2012 by former Facebook executive Steinberg and received more than $1 million in funding from various backers including U2 frontman Bono.
