Aircraft fire sends four people to hospital
Four passengers were sent to hospital due to an aircraft fire aboard a United Airlines flight.
It was caused by an overheated battery.
The flight was forced to turn back to San Diego
The flight crew were able to quickly stop the fire spreading, the San Diego Fire Department tweeted,
Emergency crews responded and treated passengers.
The Newak bound Boeing 737 Max was in the air less than one hour.
“The FAA will investigate,” FAA spokesperson Ian Gregor said.
He said the aircraft fire was caused by a laptop battery.
“Our crew acted quickly to contain the device and medical personnel met the aircraft upon arrival ” United said.
“We thank our crew for their quick actions in prioritizing the safety of everyone on board.”
