Airline boss’s daughter orders plane back to gate
The daughter of Korean Air Lines’ chairman Cho Yang Ho ordered a plane to return to the gate so she could remove a crew member who incorrectly answered a question on the airline’s nut policy.
Heather Cho, 40, vice president of the airline, ordered a crew member on a flight from New York to Seoul to leave the plane after she was served macadamia nuts without asking, reports Bloomberg.
The aircraft, carrying 250 passengers and 20 cabin crew, had already left the gate at JFK Airport when Cho questioned the crew member and realised he did not know the airline’s rules that passengers should be asked before serving nuts.
It took no more than two minutes to return to the gate, according to the airline, and the flight was 11 minutes late when it finally arrived in Seoul.
Korean Air apologized to passengers for the inconvenience the incident caused in a statement.
The airline said that given her position, it was ‘reasonable’ for her ‘to raise a problem in service.’
