Airline opens investigation after Twitter account hacked
Air India has initiated an investigation after its official Twitter account was hacked.
The Twitter handle was seemingly taken over early on Thursday by a Turkish group with a series of bizarre posts.
It began with the tweet: "Last minute important announcement. All our flights have been cancelled. From now on, we will fly with Turkish Airlines."
Further messages followed.
"Your account has been hacked by the Turkish cyber army Ayyildiz Tim. Your DM correspondence and important data have been captured," one post said.
The official handle @airindiain had been changed to @airindiaTR.
After several hours, Air India regained control of the account.
All malicious content posted has now been removed, an airline official said.
"Passengers are requested to ignore any misleading and mischievous communication on our operations," the spokesperson added.
The Air India Twitter handle has nearly 150,000 followers.
