Airlines act to limit strike disruption next week
Airlines are giving passengers the option to change their flights to avoid any potential disruption caused by a planned national strike in Belgium next week.
British Airways is allowing passengers to rebook their flights now to avoid travelling on December 8 and 15, the two planned strike days.
It will shortly publish a revised schedule for next Monday which is says will limit disruption.
"In the meantime, we recognise the uncertainty as to whether the industrial action will go ahead, and have introduced a more flexible booking policy for customers to take advantage of," it said.
Passengers who have a ticket to travel to or from Brussels on Monday December 8 can rebook, subject to availability, to travel on those routes from Friday December 5 to Thursday December 11.
Those with tickets to travel to/from Brussels on Monday 15 December can rebook on British Airways flights on those routes from Friday 12 December to Thursday 18 December.
Brussels Airlines has been giving passengers booked on flights on December 8 and 15 the option to change their bookings since late November.
"On 8 and 15 December, the airline will do its utmost to assist her passengers as much as possible," the airline said.
"The airline strongly advises to travel with hand luggage only, if possible, since baggage handling activities might be impacted as well."
Brussels Airlines currently anticipates no impact on its long-haul flights.
