Airlines resume more flights to Cambodia
Airlines are gradually restarting flights to Cambodia’s capital.
Home grown carrier Cambodia Angkor Air, China Air and Eva Air have all restarted limited lights to Phnom Penh International Airport while services with Qatar Airways, Cathay Pacific, Thai Airways and Emirates will likely resume next month or July, the Khmer Times reports.
Strict measures are in place for airline passengers who are required to undergo ‘on the spot’ blood tests.
Additionally, all airline crews must don personal protective suits.
Cambodia’s State Secretariat of Civil Aviation said passenger traffic had plunged about 90% from average levels for the time of year.
The government is easing cash-flow worries for the country’s six local airlines by allowing deferrals of some airline taxes until the end of May and airlines can delay repayments for certain aviation fees for up to six months.
Cambodia has more than 120 cases of Covid-19 but no confirmed deaths so far.
The country looks to be one of the ASEAN nations set to benefit most from a China outbound tourism market recovery due to its excellent relations with Beijing and a relatively low number of Covid-19 cases.
