Philadelphia Police arrested a worker at the city’s airport after a pilot’s gun was stolen.

The pilot left a bag unattended while using a bathroom at Philadelphia Airport.

After a search of the airport by law enforcement officers the weapon was found and an airport janitor was arrested on suspicion of theft.

The gun was discovered in a janitor supply closet.

Airport officials said that pilot has been trained and is authorized to carry a weapon while flying as a member of the Federal Flight Deck Officer Program.

The pilot alerted police after leaving a bag unattended for a few moments in the men’s room located past the security checkpoint.

According to police, the janitor was the only airport employee seen near the bathroom at the time and was the sole keyholder of the closet where the gun was later found.

The janitor had take a small bag which contained a Federal Aviation Administration-approved locked gun box where the weapon was still located, according to Philadelphia police chief inspector Joseph Sullivan.

Neither the pilot nor janitor has been publicly named but Philly.com reports the pilot worked for Republic Airways.
