AITO elects new council members

Six new members have been elected to the ruling body of the association of Independent Tour Operators.
New to the AITO Council are Mandy Nickerson, Bales Worldwide; David Wickers, Bridge and Wickers; Laurence Hicks, Wendy Wu Tours; Doug Mathieson, Cadogan Holidays; Chris Breen, Chameleon Worldwide and Alastair Donnelly, InsideJapan Tours.
Many of the new council members are from companies that have recently joined AITO and are keen to get involved and drive the organisation forward.
The new six appointees join continuing council members: Akin Koc, Anatolian Sky; Amrit Singh, Transindus; Barrie Neilson, Sailing Holidays; Fiona Urquhart, Martin Randall Travel; Graham Edgeley, Casas Cantabricas; John Tangney, Tangney Tours; Noel Josephides Sunvil Holidays; Richard Rice, Ski Safari; Roger Diski, Rainbow Tours and Stephen Da Costa, Sports Tours.
Other elected appointees include Derek Moore, Explore (chairman); John Gillies, Original Travel (deputy chairman) and Philip Ovenden, All Leisure Group (treasurer).
Moore said: “It’s heartening to see so many new faces stepping up to the plate and putting themselves forward for council.
“It clearly demonstrates how members want to contribute to the organisation and make it even stronger. We have some excellent new council members with a broad range of expertise and I’m looking forward to working with them in the coming 12 months.”
