Alaska Airlines postpones earnings call after IT outage
Alaska Airlines has restored operations following an hours-long IT outage which led to more than 300 flight cancelations.
“We are working to get our operations back on track as quickly and safely as possible,” the airline said, shortly after a ground stop on flights was lifted early on Friday.
The airline had requested a temporary ground stop for both Alaska Air and Horizon Air flights, the Federal Aviation Administration said.
Flights are back up and running but with some delays.
It hasn’t shared what specifically caused the outage, other than that it was a ‘significant’ outage in its primary data center.
It added that there is no evidence it was a cybersecurity issue.
Due to the issue, Alaska Airlines canceled its planned earnings call today to ‘focus on operational recovery’ and support delayed customers
“We do not yet have an estimate of the financial impact of the operational disruption on our fourth quarter results,” it said in a regulatory filing.
“The safety of our flights was never compromised,” it said.
It as the airline’s second outage in just the last three months.
