All business travel booked online in five years?
The trend is up so much that in five years, all corporate travel may be handled online, says a report in Buffalo Business First.
“The bottom line is that more and more companies are going to the internet for their business travel,” said Joan Stovroff, a principal in Stovroff & Taylor Travel in Williamsville, New York.
“Buffalo Niagara companies are just as involved in the situation as their counterparts across the country, with local travel agencies staunchly defending their services as far superior to anything on Web sites,” the article said.
The article quoted business people who pointed that simple internet booking was far different from complicated trips.
“Searching multiple sites to get the lowest possible fare is time-consuming,” said Jean Covelli, president of Travel Team/World Travel Partners in Buffalo.
But companies such as WorldTravel BTI, an Atlanta-based national travel management firm offering both traditional and online corporate travel services, found that 35% of its client base made major adjustments to their travel policies in the past year, usually to economize.
“The actions cited most often by clients include increasing use of online booking systems” WorldTravel said. “Increasing employee adoption of corporate online booking tools is a continuing trend,” it added.
