Allegiant COO stands down
Allegiant Travel Company president and COO Andrew C. Levy has stepped down with immediate effect.
Levy gave no reason for the sudden decision other than to "pursue more entrepreneurial opportunities."
Allegiant will look for a successor, and in the meantime, Levy’s role will be covered by CEO Maurice J. Gallagher and other board members.
Company spokeswoman Jessica Wheeler said Levy will help out as a non-executive advisor for the next several months.
Las Vegas-based Allegiant Travel Company operates the low-fare airline Allegiant Air.
"This is a decision I considered carefully and feel confident there is tremendous momentum for the initiatives I’ve championed and I have no doubt Allegiant will not skip a beat due to the outstanding management team that remains intact," Levy said.
"I am excited about the future. Allegiant’s future is also very bright and I feel confident I am leaving at a time when Allegiant is strong, healthy and poised for ongoing growth."
Levy joined Allegiant in 2001 and had served as president since 2009.
