Allure of the Seas now on Google Street View
Cruisers can now view the world’s largest cruise ship in unprecedented detail from the comfort of home.
Google has added the 5,400 passenger Royal Caribbean Allure of the Seas to its Street View program for visitors to take a virtual tour of the ship.
It is the first time the panoramic-view technology has been used on a cruise ship.
A virtual tour of the ship showcases several spaces across its decks including the Central Park gardens, the Royal Promenade, the Boardwalk, swimming pools, some stateroom interiors and dining venues.
The mapping project was completed over eight days, taking 20,000 images using a DSLR camera with a fish-eye lens.
"Consumers go online to research their vacations and this is the closest they can get to actually being onboard," said Royal Caribbean International director of marketing & PR Jo Briody.
"We are confident that once people get virtually immersed in Allure of the Seas’ various decks and features thanks to Google Street View technology, they’ll be eager to experience the real thing."
