Amadeus creates dedicated hotels team
Amadeus has introduced a dedicated team to cover the hotels sector in the UK and Ireland
Guillaume Thevenot, previously head of contracting for Active Hotels/Priceline Europe, will work with travel agencies to assess and meet their hospitality needs.
Former Pegasus Solutions strategic account manager Brian Garvan will lead Amadeus’ expansion of its IT offer for hotels in the region.
The technology company has recruited an additional seven staff in its sales and marketing team over the past three months, bringing the total number of consultants in the UK to more than 80.
The new team is part of a global initiative to strengthen Amadeus’ commitment to the hospitality industry. The company now has nearly 400 consultants and developers dedicated to hospitality around the world.
For travel agencies, Amadeus offers access to more than 68,000 independent and chain hotels – many of which have signed up to Amadeus Best Available Rate guaranteeing agents their best prices.
Amadeus also provides a range of IT solutions to hoteliers to optimise their revenue, distribute inventory and manage the guest experience.
UK & Ireland managing director Stephane Durand said: “Amadeus continues to experience strong growth in the UK and Ireland and one area we believe we can make a real difference with our technology is in the hospitality sector.
“We are now at a critical stage where Guillaume and Brian’s experience will be put to great use in helping us to develop our hospitality offerings for travel agents and hoteliers and accelerate our expansion.“
