Amadeus offers new automated hotel commission collection service
Launching what it claims is the first automated commission clearing service on a GDS for hotels in conjunction with travel technology provider Net Trans, Amadeus says more than $130 million worth of commission is being lost a year on electronic hotel bookings.
This means that travel agencies, both traditional and online, of all sizes can protect their hotel revenues by automatically getting prompt payment.
Amadeus estimates that travel agencies lose between 18 and 20% of their hotel commissions a year due to non-collection.
“Net Trans has employed five years development on what we consider a vital service which is now going to be made available to almost 70,000 travel agencies across the globe – thanks to our strategic agreement with the world’s leading travel distributor,” said Trond Sorensen, CEO of Net Trans.
He said some customers are seeing commissions rise as much as 40%.
The Net Trans “Active Solution” solution is directly connected to the Amadeus GDS, which transmits the travel agency’s hotel booking data to the Net Trans commission processing service. Net Trans automatically claims commissions due from the hotel on behalf of the travel agency. That also leads to much faster commission payment, according to Net Transv officials.
