Amazon.com in nasty lawsuits with Avis and Orbitz
Amazon.com unleashed a legal offensive against Orbitz and Avis, claiming patent infringement.
In late June, Cendant owned Avis and Budget car rental companies and Orbitz, sued Amazon for infringement of their patent titled “System and Method for Providing Recommendation of Goods or Services Based on Recorded Purchasing History”.
Amazon and its search subsidiary responded immediately with its own counter suit, claiming Cendant and subsidiaries infringed on their patent “Secure method and system for communicating a list of credit card numbers over a non-secure network”, “Method and system for electronic commerce using multiple roles”, and “Internet-based customer referral system”.
