American Airline outage delays flights
American Airlines flight service is slowly getting back on track after a systemwide outage snarled flights.
Flights were unable to take off because of IT technical problems, although it didn’t cause any cancelations, the airline said.
“A technology issue impacted connectivity for some of our systems earlier today. We worked with our partners to resolve the issue and the applications that our customers and teams use are now back up and operational,” AA said in a statement.
“We apologize to our customers for their experience.”
It is thought the system managing maintenance checks was one of the functions impacted.
According to outage tracker Downdetector, several of American’s major hubs were affected including LAX, Phoenix, Dallas-Fort Worth, Washington D.C., New York, and Charlotte.
The airline described it a ‘technology issue affecting connectivity’ for some of its systems.
“Though we are experiencing delays as a result, we have not canceled any flights at this time.”
CNN reported the outage affcetd flight bookings, check-in, ticketing and baggage tagging among other functions.
A short time after the outage was announced, FlightAware was showing about 20% of American Airlines flights delayed.
