American Airlines adds Costa Rica flights to pre-travel Covid testing program

American Airlines is expanding its pre-flight Covid-19 testing program for travelers going to Costa Rica.

It comes after the country announced eased restrictions from 1 November allowing entry to visitors from all US states.

Travelers must have proof of a negative PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before departure.

"Initiatives like these are key to the recovery of tourism in Costa Rica, an important economic engine for our country, and at the same time help to guarantee the health and safety of passengers," said Gustavo Segura, Costa Rica’s Tourism Minister.

Starting 15 October, American Airlines passengers flying to Costa Rica from Dallas-Fort Worth can order a home test kit, take a test at a CareNow location, or take it at the airport.

The home testing kit costs $129 and this option is also available for travelers flying to Costa Rica out of American’s hub in Miami.

Alaska Airlines just announced it will also offer pre-departure Covid-19 tests for Hawaii-bound passengers starting on 12 October in Seattle.
