American Airlines appeals Covid violation fine in Canada
American Airlines has challenged a $100,000 fine imposed by Canada’s regulator for Covid-19 test violations.
Transport Canada says American Airlines allowed four travelers board a flight without negative tests last year.
The airline was fined the maximum penalty of $25,000 per passenger without a negative Covid-19 test.
It relates to Flight 4291 from Dallas-Fort Worth to Calgary.
American filed a dispute of the penalty notices with the Transportation Appeal Tribunal.
Transport Canada said there were two other airlines served with fines for beaching the Covds rules, but hasn’t named them.
American hasn’t said why it is challenging, the fine but the offences took place the same day an exemption to quarantine for fully vaccinated travellers came into force in Canada.
