American Airlines deepens China Southern codeshare partnership
American Airlines has strengthened cooperation with partner China Southern Airlines to further expand codesharing and other business operations.
The airlines’ China-U.S. air route networks will be further integrated with respective customer access to all mainline air routes in both countries.
It signals a ‘win-win relationship’ said Zhang Lin, assistant president of China Southern Air Holding Company Limited.
It will result in around 64 peak season codeshare flights per week on trunk air routes.
"Through sharing resources, our cooperation is market- and passenger-oriented," Zhang said.
Expanded codesharing is expected to begin in early 2019.
Also from next year, the airlines will start offering reciprocal lounge access and frequent flier benefits.
"With the opening of Beijing Daxing International Airport in 2019 and the ability to cooperate fully with China Southern Airlines, we are incredibly excited about the airline’s future in the Chinese market," said AA president, Rober Isom.
China Southern Airlines is the country’s largest airline and the world’s third largest, operating more than 3,000 daily flights.
