American Airlines pilots warned about acting illegally
Pilots’ unions have warned American Airlines staff to make sure they’re not acting illegally after the airline threatened legal action.
The airline believes it is being targeted by planned pilot “sick outs” or intentional delays and calls of maintenance or malfunction.
The airline is being hit by cancellations and delays, to the point where industry experts in the US are telling agents and travellers not to book American.
In the latest developments, American has warned the union that it will seek legal action if these issues continue.
In response, the Allied Pilots Association acting president, Keith Wilson, has asked his pilots not to call in sick, make unnecessary maintenance reports or delay-making detours.
According to AP reports Wilson told his pilot members that if they are, indeed, sabotaging the airline in this way “that activity must cease immediately”.
