American Airlines suffers a data breach
American Airlines has informed customers of a data breach.
It fell victim to a phishing scam in July.
“American Airlines is aware of a phishing campaign that led to the unauthorized access to a limited number of team member mailboxes,” American spokesman Curtis Blessing said.
“A very small number of customers and employees’ personal information was contained in those email accounts.
It says there is no evidence of the data has-beens misused.
“We are also currently implementing additional technical safeguards to prevent a similar incident,” American added.
American Airlines contacted potentially impacted customers and employees
The phishing scam gave hackers access to certain data including names, dates of birth, mailing addresses, and email addresses.
Official IDs, such as driver’s license numbers, and passport numbers were also compromised.
