American Express adds $1 billion in business
American Express after winning $1 billion in new managed travel business through the first half of the year concludes business travel is “alive and rebounding.”
The company says it has won more than 50 new clients in head-to-head competition.
New business clients in the US include CUNA Mutual Group and Tuesday Morning.
The company cites an Accenture study that shows its clients achieved 17% greater overall savings for travel and entertainment compared to other travel management companies.
American Express, which formerly targeted major companies, has expanded its efforts to the small and mid-size market. A recently announced program for these markets includes a Webfare guarantee, double Membership Rewards points and automatic ticket refunds.
American Express Travel Related Services Inc. had $16 billion in worldwide travel sales last year.
