American Queen acquires Great Lakes operator Victory Cruise Lines
River cruise line American Queen Steamboat Company is expanding its footprint to the Great Lakes.
AQSC has entered into an agreement to acquire the brand name and two vessels of Victory Cruise Lines from Sunstone Ships Inc.
Victory currently operates two identical 202-passenge vessels, Victory I and Victory II.
The deal is expected to close next January and no financial details have been disclosed.
The Victory ships will join AQSC’s fleet of three ships – American Queen, American Empress and American Duchess.
A fourth vessel, American Countess, is currently under construction and will debut in 2020.
These cruise the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers and the Pacific Northwest.
"We look forward to working closely with Victory Cruise Lines’ new and existing travel partners," said John Waggoner, American Queen Steamboat Company chairman and CEO.
"These vessels enable us to provide guests with more diverse cruising options, particularly in the Great Lakes, a region that our customers have been requesting for years."
Itinerary details for Victory I and Victory II will be announced in the coming months.
