American Queen Voyages to scrap Great Lakes cruises
American Queen Voyages will halt Great Lakes cruises for good at the end of this season.
It said it is refocusing its operations to concentrate on river cruises.
This season will be the last for Great Lakes cruises.
The line now plans to sell the Ocean Navigator and Ocean Voyager coastal ships.
“Our customers consistently tell us our river itineraries are exceptional and return again and again,” said President Cindy D’Aoust.
“Our primary commitment is to deliver a best-in-class cruise vacation with a focus on immersive culinary and destination experiences.”
“All of our focus is being put into updating and enhancing our popular river product.”
American Queen Voyages is part of Hornblower Group.
To reflect the refocusing, it has revised some 2024 river cruise itineraries.
It returns to Alaska and British Columbia on the 186-guest Ocean Victory and will sail the Mississippi from Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico.
